A ceiling fan is a mounting problem before it is an electrical one. A fan moves and it keeps moving, so the box overhead has to be rated for that load rather than for the static weight of a light fitting. Standard lighting boxes are not, and a fan hung from one is the most common fault we are called back to correct.
The rest follows from the ceiling. Joist position, ceiling height, slope, and whether there is access from above all decide how the fan is braced and how much of the work is visible when it is finished.
KRW Electric establishes what is above the ceiling before quoting the fan, because that is what separates a straightforward replacement from an installation that needs a new box, bracing, or a new switch leg pulled to the wall.
