Questions we are asked about this
Why did half my outlets stop working?
Most often a tripped GFCI outlet elsewhere on the circuit, a breaker that tripped without looking tripped, or a failed connection at one outlet that cuts power to the outlets after it.
Some rooms have power and some don't. Is that dangerous?
It can be harmless, such as a tripped GFCI, or it can be a burned connection or a lost neutral. If lights brighten and dim, or you smell burning, switch off the affected breakers and call.
My lights work but my air conditioning and dryer don't. Why?
That pattern often means one of the two legs of your electrical service has been lost. It may be a utility problem or a problem at the meter or main breaker, and it should be checked promptly.
How do I know if it's FPL's problem or mine?
If neighbors are also out, it is almost certainly the utility. If only your home is affected, it is usually inside the property. We can test and tell you which side of the meter the problem is on.
Can you fix a dead outlet without opening walls?
Usually yes. Most dead circuits are traced to a connection at an outlet, switch or junction box that can be reached from the front.
Do you offer same-day service for power loss?
Yes, in Pinecrest, Coconut Grove, South Miami and Miami Beach when scheduling permits. Call (305) 359-7312.
