From rough-in to final lighting
The project
KRW Electric recently finished the electrical build-out of a retail store interior. We started with an open ceiling and bare walls and handed over a finished sales floor with track lighting, backlit display walls, a media wall and lit display tables.
The photos below were taken by our crew at each stage of the job, in order. Brand signage and screen content have been removed from the finished photos.
Stage by stage

Demolition. The old ceiling grid is opened up and the existing wiring above it is exposed, so the space can be stripped back before any new work goes in.
Wall rough-in. New boxes and conduit go onto the existing walls before any new board is hung.
Floor rough-in and conduit. The floor is cut and patched where conduit runs out to the middle of the sales floor, so displays there can be powered without cords.
Framing and rough-in. Metal stud framing for the display walls goes up with conduit and boxes set inside it.
Panel and conduit. In the electrical room, conduit runs are brought down the wall to the panels and disconnects that feed the store.
Electrical room progress. The panel is set and the conduit above it is supported and run straight before the room is closed up.
Drywall and device boxes. Board is up, device boxes are cut in, and the floor trench is patched.
Lighting installed. Track lighting runs the length of the finished ceiling.

What the electrical scope covered
- Demolition and rough-in. Opening up the ceiling and walls, then setting new boxes and conduit before the walls were closed.
- Power distribution. Panels and disconnects in the electrical room, with conduit run from there to the sales floor.
- Floor conduit. Runs cut into the floor so the center displays have power without cords crossing the floor.
- Lighting and controls. Ceiling track lighting, plus power for the backlit display walls, the display tables and the media wall.
- Final energization. Bringing the finished store's circuits online for opening.
