Installing a Level 2 EV charger looks simple from the driveway: a box on the wall and a cable to the car. Behind it sits a 240-volt circuit sized for a load that runs for hours at a time, a panel that may already be close to its limit, a permit and an inspection. - Their words, not ours. Services, brands and affiliations are as each company states them. We did not include ratings, review counts or prices, which change and are easy to misread.

The approach starts with the electrical system rather than the charger. Its site says it installs in Broward, Miami-Dade and Palm Beach counties, lists Florida electrical contractor license EC13015823, and states installer affiliations with Tesla, Qmerit and ChargePoint. It also has a dedicated page for Tesla charger installation in South Florida.
Best for: single-family homeowners who want a company whose main business is home EV charging. Worth knowing: it is focused on EV charging, so a house that also needs broader electrical work may need a separate conversation.
3. Charged Up Electric
Charged Up Electric LLC is an EV-focused electrical contractor serving Broward, Palm Beach and Miami-Dade, plus the Orlando area, under license EC13010317 shown on its site. Its services page covers single-family homes (NEMA outlets, Tesla Wall Connectors and J1772 chargers) and multi-unit dwellings and commercial buildings, including Level 2 stations with payment software and load sharing. The site lists Tesla, ChargePoint and ClipperCreek installer affiliations and EVITP training.
Best for: condo associations, apartment owners and offices adding several networked chargers. Worth knowing: its site gives a service area rather than a street address, so ask where the crew is based when you call.
4. C.W. Fischer Electric
C.W. Fischer Electric, Inc. is an electrical contractor based in Pompano Beach. Its EV page describes helping residential and commercial clients install EV chargers, including site assessment, load calculation and permitting, and states that it is a Qmerit partner. Its site lists service areas across Broward and southern Palm Beach County, including Fort Lauderdale, Hollywood, Deerfield Beach and Boca Raton, and its About page traces the company back to 1968.
Best for: Broward and south Palm Beach owners who want an established electrical contractor for home or commercial charging. Worth knowing: its listed service areas lean toward Broward and Palm Beach, so Miami-Dade owners should confirm coverage.
5. Reliable Power Systems
Reliable Power Systems, based in Deerfield Beach, is an electrical and generator contractor. Its EV page covers residential charger installation for homeowners in Boca Raton, Delray Beach, Wellington and Fort Lauderdale, lists electrical contractor license EC13004305, and says its installation team is approved by Tesla to install charging stations.
Best for: homeowners who want an EV charger and a standby generator from the same company. Worth knowing: generators are a large part of its business, and its EV page focuses on residential work.
6. Trophy Electric
Trophy Electric LLC is a Boca Raton electrical contractor (license EC13010278 on its site) with EV charger installation pages for Boca Raton, Fort Lauderdale and Miami. The pages describe residential Level 2 installs with a load calculation, a dedicated 240-volt circuit, the permit and the inspection, and name chargers such as the Tesla Wall Connector, ChargePoint and Wallbox. The site states it has no affiliation with the brands it mentions.
Best for: Palm Beach and Broward homeowners who want a smaller contractor. Worth knowing: it is a newer, smaller business, so ask about scheduling on larger or multi-charger jobs.
7. Florida Power House
Florida Power House, Inc. is a Miami company best known for generators that also offers electrical services. Its EV page covers residential and commercial EV charger installation, setup, repair and replacement in Miami and across South Florida.
Best for: Miami-Dade owners who already use the company for a generator. Worth knowing: EV charging is a side service next to its generator work, and its site does not show a license number, so check the license on the state lookup before hiring.
How to choose an EV charger installer
- Check the license. Search the company or license number on the Florida DBPR lookup at myfloridalicense.com. Electrical contractor licenses start with EC (state) or ER (registered, limited to certain local jurisdictions).
- Ask for a load calculation. A charger is a large continuous load. A good installer looks at the whole service, not only the free breaker space, and tells you whether you need load management or a panel upgrade.
- Confirm the permit. A new charger circuit normally needs an electrical permit and inspection. Homeowners may pull their own permit for their own single-family home under the owner-builder exemption in Florida Statute 489.103, but most hire a contractor who pulls it.
- Talk about the location. Outdoors, choose a charger rated for it, prefer hardwiring, and keep the unit out of runoff and sprinkler spray. Near the coast, ask about corrosion-resistant hardware.
- Condos: start with the association. Charging in a shared garage usually needs association approval and a plan for metering and the path back to your unit's panel or a common panel.
- Get the scope in writing. The quote should say what is included: circuit, breaker, receptacle or hardwire connection, mounting, permit, inspection and any panel work.
FAQ
Do I need a permit to install a home EV charger in South Florida?
A new 240-volt charger circuit normally requires an electrical permit and a final inspection from the local building department. A licensed contractor usually pulls it as part of the job.
Can my existing panel handle an EV charger?
Often, but not always. Older homes with central air, an electric water heater and pool equipment can be close to their limit. A load calculation answers it; load-managed chargers or a panel upgrade are the usual fixes when the numbers are tight.
Should I hire a dedicated EV installer or a general electrical contractor?
Either can do good work if licensed. EV-focused firms know the chargers well; full-service electrical contractors are useful when the job may grow into panel, service or subpanel work.
Does a Tesla or Qmerit affiliation matter?
It tells you the installer is part of a manufacturer or network program, which can help with brand-specific setup. It does not replace a Florida electrical contractor license, which is what you should check first.
What about condo or commercial chargers?
